Skip The Extremes (eDiets Tips for weight loss)
Brought to you by eDiets (click here for more information)
Most of my clients believed at one time that in order to lose weight, they must give up all or most of their favorite foods in order to be successful. Not true! The short-term thrill of losing those first few pounds by depriving yourself completely of foods you enjoy will evaporate as you start to feel the resentment of deprivation.
My experience in dieting has been that extreme moves to the right -- giving up most of our favorite foods -- are often followed by extreme shifts to the left -- bingeing on all of those foods even more than we ate them previously. I call this being on “The Swing.” It tends to lead to the phenomena we refer to as “yo-yo dieting.”
We must simply address where we overindulge. This is a great place to start a new healthy meal plan. We need to look at all the areas in our life where we range in the extremes.
Use this type of approach in all of the areas of excess and you can be sure that you will feel less deprived. You will also be on the road to weight loss and healthier eating that will have you heading in the right direction and off The Swing.
